The Western Shores

Ea’s populous western shores are known for large cities, industry, and culture. Two of Ea's oldest cities, Fennahawk and Telisar, are home to the Universities, ancient and influential houses of knowledge that act as stewards to the land's history. Thanks to ocean currents, the west coast enjoys cool, damp winters and warm summers, making it prime territory for agriculture, which feeds most of the large cities. The extensive coastal wetlands are ideal for growing firberries, a staple crop for rural Possumfolk communities. Fisheries up and down the coast regularly pull in large catches of cod, which is salted and dried for Vaihdosi cuisine.

The Woodland

Further inland, the moist coastal lowlands give way to coniferous forests, where the majority of Possumfolk live, as well as many Vaihdosi. Denizens of the Woodlands subsistly mainly on hunting, gathering, and forest gardening, cultivating the native plants to their advantage. On the coast, the Woodlands are known to be provincial, backwards, and superstitious. Woodland dwellers would say their superstition is for good reason—city dwellers have become too disconnected from the magic of the land to understand.

Orkasy

To the typical southerner, Orkasy may seem like a frigid wasteland, but to its Orcish and Vaihdosi residents, it is a rich ecosystem that rewards the wise and punishes the weak. Fish and seal meat, alongside various species of cultivated kelp, make up the bulk of an Orkasian diet. In Orkasy’s cool, damp summers, the tundra comes alive with luscious wild fruits, including cloudberries and redcurrant. Its cities may be smaller than those in the south, but Orkasians, Orc and Vaihdosi alike, are fiercely proud of their northern home.
